Woman Arrested by the Police A mentally ill woman who lives in a transitional housing program invited a friend over. After staff members would not allow the friend of hers up to her apartment she was upset and knocked over a table. Shortly thereafter four NYPD officers smashed open her door and shot our client in the chest with a Taser gun before falsely arresting her. All charges against our client were dismissed. A man in his fifties owned a gun but allowed his firearm license to expire. The officers stated “We’ve got you now” and erroneously accused him of selling crack cocaine. The man was searched, but nothing was found. He was taken to the precinct, ordered to take off all his clothes and to “squat and cough.” The man had no choice but to follow the orders, despite his humiliation. Without legal justification, he was charged with criminal possession and sale of a controlled substance and was held in prison for 7 days. His charges were dismissed.
